Immortal Technique Performs at Benefit Concert in San Francisco

Immortal Technique and Omeid International assemble Benefit Concert in San Francisco for Afghanistan's Children of War

Viper Records President and recording artist, Immortal Technique will be performing on November 20th at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco to raise money for Omeid International, a human rights advocacy organization, which currently plans to construct an orphanage and medical center near Kabul, Afghanistan.

Miami, Florida US – November 13, 2008 – On Thursday, November 20, revolutionary and powerhouse independent rapper, Immortal Technique, will perform live on stage at DNA Lounge, returning to the Bay to raise funds in support of a badly needed orphanage and medical center in war torn Afghanistan. Working closely with human rights advocacy organization, Omeid International, Tech's performance raises funds earmarked for developing the Amin institute in Kabul where some of the two million orphaned and 60,000 homeless children of Afghanistan will receive full-scale rehabilitation from the devastating effects of war. Besides just doing the benefit show Immortal Technique is pledging $10,000 of his own money and is traveling to the war torn heartland of Afghanistan to assure the final stages of construction are completed.

Known for his fiery assaults on corruption, racism, classism and oppression, Technique has also garnered a reputation for backing his politics with action, historical context and personal responsibility. The Institute, which is set to begin operating in March 2009, will provide safe housing, education, medical and psychological care and some sense of hope to twenty of these displaced children.

Wars and other conflicts, regardless of their political meaning or benefit always leave in their wake a devastating trail of destitution and hopelessness, especially for children. These young survivors have no politics. They have neither desire for property, prestige or domination over others; rather simply they struggle only to see another day. These orphaned souls face the dangers of hunger and disease along with the constant threats endemic to failed states in the third world, including extremists, human and opium traffickers and other such predators who take advantage of these helpless children.

The Institute will be a beacon of goodwill in a place that has seen so much negativity and pain, giving many a chance at a real future that otherwise would be incredibly bleak. Real lives will be changed as they are shown what the determination and willingness of compassion can accomplish.

Immortal Technique's Revolutionary Campaign

Immortal Technique is such a very busy man these days. He just released his new album The 3rd World and now he is putting time in to expand his revolutionary gifts. Immortal just confirmed his plans to build a school, orphanage and clinic in Kabul, Afghanistan. In order to follow through with his plan he is partnering up with non-profit human rights organization Omeid International. The project that Immortal hopes to flourish is intended for children without families due to war and disease. The Institute will be named The Amin (literally translating to mean trustworthy in Arabic) Institute.

Here are some direct lines from Immortal Technique’s letter stating his pledge to the cause:

“The orphanage section will house 20 children at first, from toddlers to ages 10, while the clinic will service the impoverished community surrounding it.

- There will be caregivers there, widows, dedicated people that have witnessed the violence that has consumed the country since the Russian Invasion first hand.

- There will also be a school the serves the area and will teach K through 5 to the children with certified teachers from here and Afghanistan. And we will also have the children work with therapists and psychologists to aid their undiagnosed post traumatic disorder that in many cases rivals that of veteran infantry troops…”

Immortal Technique goes on to state that the problems at hand are not Middle Eastern nor Muslim problems solely but Human Rights issues in general. Due to this strong belief he has come together with people that have “a passionate desire for real change…people from all over the globe [that] have been activated and are in motion”.

Immortal Technique Beats RZA In Album Sales

>Independent hip-hop seems to be the only genre pushing units these days, well at least in the case of Immortal Technique. The Harlem MC and underground hip-hop giant had over 7,300 copies Soundscan certified in the album's first week, landing The 3rd World a number 9 spot on the Billboard Rap chart. His beat out his main competitor, RZA, who released Digi Snacks, in the same week. Immortal Technique also landed himself at the number 10 spot on the Top Independent Current Albums list, and the number 100 spot on the Top 200 Current Albums. If sales at UGHH.com are any indication, Tech's sales may pull off a "reverse Weezy" and actually keep sales momentum up through week 2.. Not bad for a "mixtape".

Immortal Technique - The 3rd World Tracklist

No hush hush news. Its coming. June 24th marks the release of "The 3rd World", one of the most anticipated albums in years. Yes, actual anticipation after almost 5 years since Immortal Technique's previous release. While no album has surfaced since Revolutionary, Vol. 2, he has released several freestyles and singles such as "Bin Laden" Featuring Mos Def and Eminem , which became an internet craze. Other noted releases include the "Watch Out" freestyle (Over Rick Ross's Hustling beat) and the music video for AKIR's "Treason" that featured Immortal Technique daily on national television since the BET Freestyle Friday battles.

Immortal Technique, the revolutionary, has made further recent news in regards to the Sean Bell verdict by not only attracting press, but also by drawing in over 100k unique visitors to his Myspace page in the last week alone. Suprise to some but to the rest of us this is the king of political rap. Technique has relentlessly pursued the corporate media and the payed off govt. Its hard to find a song where hes not on to something much bigger then hip hop. Tech was also the winner of the sickest punch lines of 2007.

Yeah this was a easy one. Chuck D stepped up the knowledge of the gangsta rap era and broke out with smash hits like Fight the Power, 911 is A Joke, etc. Even the flashy loud mouth flavor flav as the hype man couldnt cover the message.

Pac started strictly as a political rapper. Born the son of a black panther it wasnt easy. He rose to fame with the gift to connect with everyone and let them see what was in front of there eyes. Obivious the most powerful and skilled rapper on the list and in history. We will never know how far Pac was going to take his music. At one point he made his own Street Constituion and made people sign it everywhere. Sounds like he had a much bigger plan that was cut short. Because of versatile style that made hits, slow jams, party songs, and anthems. I let him fall to 3 because he wasnt definend by style. Tupac Shakur will be remembered as one of the great speakers of our generation.
