The Game's Family Values
Rap star The Game is currently being investigating, after he found himself in the middle of a family rivalry after allegedly promising to finance his cousin’s funeral, but didn’t.
According to TMZ, Game- real name Jayceon Taylor- offered to give $14,000 for a female cousin’s burial, her brother, Robert “Kirky” Kirkwood, said. But when it was time for the rapper to pay up, Kirky says Game changed his number and, in essence, disappeared. He then says the rapper showed up at the funeral unexpectedly last Saturday and spoke about family values.
Kirky went on to say that things got tense after services, when Game came up to him and punched him in the face. Kirky has filed a police report, and TMZ reports that police are currently involved in an “active investigation” of the rapper.

dead prez Next Album To Have No Label, Distribution
Following his dead prez partner stic.man's work with Nas, M-1 [click to read] says the group's new album - titled Information Age - will be released in November.
When HipHopDX caught up with M-1 at Los Angeles' Do Over Lounge Sunday, he was coy about the album's contents. "It's Let's Get Free 2009" he said, when asked about the album's direction, referring to the group's seminal debut on Loud Records that spawned the single "Hip-Hop."
M-1, who released Confidential on Sotti Records via Koch Distribution several years ago, said Information Age doesn't have a label or distributor yet. The emcee went on to state that neither was necessary or something the group required to release this album.
As far as production, he was also mum, but did add that production will come from outside as well as from stic.man..

Killer Mike Talks Lil Wayne, Ice-T/Soulja Boy & More
Killer Mike paid a visit to WREK 91.1 FM studios in Atlanta this past Thursday, to chop it up with DJ Enchant'd on a wide array of topics. Mike goes in about his thoughts on the Ice-T/Soulja Boy beef, Lil Wayne's sales, his version of "A Milli", his controversial song with Ice Cube and more.
"I think that whole situation just proved that everybody can say something stupid. We all Black men: Soulja Boy, Ice-T, Kanye--everybody just said something stupid," Mike said. "I don't care that Ice-T is 50 and Soulja Boy is 17. I care that good music is recognized. 'Superman' is a great song. It will forever mark an era time that it was fun to dance, coming out of a dark place and thats great. 'Six in the Morning' is a great song. It will forever mark a time that our neighborhoods were being invaded...so I want Ice-T to be revered like Bo Jangles. I want Ice-T to be revered like Luther Vandross. I want him to be revered like Marvin Gaye. At the same time I want Soulja Boy to be accepted and loved the same way a white pop act would be. I want him to be respected for the genius to use the internet...I want all of our accomplishments to be duly noted."
On Lil Wayne's 1.3 Million records sold of The Carter III in its first two weeks:
"I tend not to think about other rappers...I'm not an employee anymore so I tend not to think on an employee level. Most rappers have record deals where they'll sell 3,4,5 million records and if they're lucky they'll bring home 1-2 million off of different revenue streams, and that's great. But if i sell a quarter million to a half million records, I equal and double and I own my masters. So I'm more interested in having a conversation about how to be an "EmCEO" than adoration or opinions on other artists. I'm not an artist anymore; it was fun being one though [laughs]."
Killer Mike also encouraged listeners to download to his indefinitely-shelved album, Ghetto Extraordinary, exclusively available on HipHopDX.com [click here read more about the project and download the audio].
I Pledge Allegiance to the Grind Pt.2, which Killer Mike claims is his "first classic album" is available starting today.
"The other albums were just practice for this one!" he declares.

Kanye West Produces Something New For Louis Vuitton
The self-proclaimed "Louis Vuitton Don" may be living up to his title. The fashion forward Kanye West has revealed to Women’s Wear Daily that he’s teaming up with Louis Vuitton to do a shoe line. West announced the partnership with the LVMH-owned high-end brand at the Louis Vuitton Spring 2009 menswear show in Paris’ Jardins de Bagatelle.
The rapper/producer’s partnership with Louis Vuitton should come as no surprise to his fans. Earlier this year, West performed at the opening of an exhibit by artist Takashi Murakami at the Brooklyn Museum. Louis Vuitton has incorporated Murakami’s work in various accessories. The rapper also celebrated his 30th birthday party at the Louis Vuitton flagship store in New York City last year.
West, who has been in Paris for the city’s Fashion Week shows, has been working on the final touches of his new shoe line called Kanye for LV. The first half of the line will be for women and is due out Fall 2008.

Immortal Technique's Revolutionary Campaign
Immortal Technique is such a very busy man these days. He just released his new album The 3rd World and now he is putting time in to expand his revolutionary gifts. Immortal just confirmed his plans to build a school, orphanage and clinic in Kabul, Afghanistan. In order to follow through with his plan he is partnering up with non-profit human rights organization Omeid International. The project that Immortal hopes to flourish is intended for children without families due to war and disease. The Institute will be named The Amin (literally translating to mean trustworthy in Arabic) Institute.
Here are some direct lines from Immortal Technique’s letter stating his pledge to the cause:
“The orphanage section will house 20 children at first, from toddlers to ages 10, while the clinic will service the impoverished community surrounding it.
- There will be caregivers there, widows, dedicated people that have witnessed the violence that has consumed the country since the Russian Invasion first hand.
- There will also be a school the serves the area and will teach K through 5 to the children with certified teachers from here and Afghanistan. And we will also have the children work with therapists and psychologists to aid their undiagnosed post traumatic disorder that in many cases rivals that of veteran infantry troops…”
Immortal Technique goes on to state that the problems at hand are not Middle Eastern nor Muslim problems solely but Human Rights issues in general. Due to this strong belief he has come together with people that have “a passionate desire for real change…people from all over the globe [that] have been activated and are in motion”.
Aside from his musical talents that we know so well, Immortal is ready to get this revolution up and running. Don’t forget to check out his new album and if you’d like to donate and read more about the cause visit the website at www.omeid.org.

Jay-Z Parties Like A Rock Star
Jay-Z parties like a rock star. This past weekend at Jay-Z made history by becoming the first hip-hop artist to headline at the Glastonbury Festival. What was his opening song you might ask? “Wonderwall” by Oasis, of course! It was a clear message to Oasis' lead singer Noel Gallagher who, just days earlier, lashed into the organizers for booking the hip hop kingpin at a predominately rock festival. Jay-Z proves once again that good music can be relevant to everyone, whether you’re a dealer from Brooklyn or a kid from Manchester; Jay gets his point across, even if he has to do it slightly off key. Click below for Jay-Z’s Oasis cover -

Immortal Technique Beats RZA In Album Sales
>Independent hip-hop seems to be the only genre pushing units these days, well at least in the case of Immortal Technique. The Harlem MC and underground hip-hop giant had over 7,300 copies Soundscan certified in the album's first week, landing The 3rd World a number 9 spot on the Billboard Rap chart. His beat out his main competitor, RZA, who released Digi Snacks, in the same week. Immortal Technique also landed himself at the number 10 spot on the Top Independent Current Albums list, and the number 100 spot on the Top 200 Current Albums. If sales at UGHH.com are any indication, Tech's sales may pull off a "reverse Weezy" and actually keep sales momentum up through week 2.. Not bad for a "mixtape".

HYPE REPORT: Young Sha
"It doesn't matter what you do, but strive to be the best at whatever it is." With the words of his now deceased grandfather reverberating in his mind and his memory embedded in his heart, each day Young Sha, aka Shane Russell seeks to live out this philosophy. Born on May 4, 1987, in Terre Haute, Indiana, the now 21-year-old always had a penchant for sports and music. However, after transferring from one local high school to the other on the Southside of town, Young Sha found himself surrounded by peers involved in freestyle battles, and quickly fell head over heels for the rapid fire, impulsive, and creative competition, quickly moving up the ranks and gaining the respect of those around him.
He began to officially pen rhymes at the age of 17, and spent the next few years in a collaboration with a friend, as 'Young Sha and D.H.', with the duo performing locally, as well as recording numerous tracks together. After more than a year together, Young Sha decided to follow his dream of becoming a solo artist, and spent most of 2007 and the early months of 2008 cultivating his work.
The past year has been one in which has involved a great deal of blood, sweat, and tears, but not without Young Sha's vision beginning to come to fruition along with his labor. May 2008 saw the release of the budding rapper's first official mixtape, entitled "Experimental Mindset." Since release, the 23 –track showcase of Young Sha's hard-hitting, relevant rhymes, vivid metaphors, and quick wit has spread by word and airplay across his hometown and surrounding areas, with his single "I Shouldn't" finding itself in rotation on local radio, including 89.7, WISU, the official radio home of Indiana State University. Young Sha credits Kanye West, Cassidy, Elzhi of Slum Village, Eminem, Lil' Wayne, and Lupe Fiasco among his musical influences.

The "BONE40 presents Jaboy Fry" freEP
In a time where every street seems to drop a mixtape (often with well-known instrumentals) Jaboy Fry (U.S.A.) and producer Bone 40 (The Netherlands) take a different route…offering 5 full tracks (plus one bonus track) from their upcoming project. They bring this to you from a love for hip-hop, but not limited by it, delving further into old soul, dark dub and experimental jams.
Bone40 presents Jaboy Fry
Things done changed with the inception of the internet…
Hip-hop used to be a very local scene, beginning in the United States, with representing your own street, block & hood. Nowadays it’s possible to connect easily with people worldwide. A rapper from the back streets of Institute, West Virginia (USA) can holler at a producer from a small town in the Netherlands (Europe.)
And that’s exactly what happened with Jaboy Fry (rapper/singer) and Bone40 (producer). One simple e-mail led to a project based on their shared love for melodious hip-hop, raw soul, dark dub and jazzy trip-hop.
Jaboy Fry
An amazing artist & one of the best upcoming stars. Born in Charleston, West Virginia, rapper/soul singer Aaron Fryson (Jaboy Fry) relocated to Institute, West Virginia with his parents and two siblings. He has never had any formal music training, but was brought up on a steady diet of soul, R&B, gospel and pop music from an early age. As a child he adopted his father’s love of music, as their home was immersed with the sounds of traditional gospel/jazz accompanied by such American R&B/Soul icons as Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder. Being a drummer for more than 15 years has given Aaron an internal rhythm that allows him to create unique distinctive flows.
His first experiences with rapping were on a political, conscious level, performing at NAACP conventions and such. Currently he performs on a regular basis in West-Virginia and teams up with several (NY) underground artists like Preechman and Byata.
Luckily for us, Aaron Fryson’s path has led him to follow his heart and his music. He concludes: “I have never pursued a nice comfortable career path, but music is where my heart is and with so much time on this planet I plan on following my bliss. I do believe that everything you do in life leads you to your ultimate destiny.”
Bone40
Born in the early 80’s in a small town in the Netherlands, Dutch Producer Bone40 caught the hip-hop-virus at the age of 10 through artists like Public Enemy, NWA, and LL Cool J.
From then on, his deepest, biggest desire was to own a sampler and 2 turntables…..But all he got was the old, antiquated piano in the living room to work out his ideas plus his father’s tape-decks to loop with (“yeah, sorry for that, dad”). His search for the roots of hip hop led to the discovery of several soul, funk and reggae (dub) artists, and in combination with the keys, to a balance between dark beats and melodious tunes.
Nowadays he’s furthered his love and passion for music and brings layered productions which balance between hip-hop, blues, soul, dub and trip-hop, often laced with bluesy improvisations. He has also worked with several vocalists on various projects.

HYPE REPORT: J.C aka Mr. IL
Artist Name: J.C aka Mr. IL
From: Southside Chicago
Myspace: myspace.com/daquicksouthside
Hard working. No other words can describe J.C aka Mr. IL as he makes his way to the top. Struggling for some kind of publicity, his will to be heard is just the beginning of his story. Five long years he has been waiting for his respect, but it seems like it just haven't came yet. He says 2008 "is my year". If thats true, he has the ability to shut all the critics up. Born in the early 90's, J.C lived with his grandmother on the south side of Chicago. He never listened to hip-hop until later on in his life, when he moved with his mother in the south suburbs. There, with 3 brothers, he first was brought into the world of hip-hop. His older brother(Hona) mutually put J.C on rap at the age of about 10. Spitting on cassette tapes & radios, he was an awful freestyler and writer. But "hard work" soon payed off. He soon started getting the hang of the rap thing and started writing seriously. By age 12, he finally he recorded his first song with 3 verses & a chorus. He then started his first group, Come Quick. Soon after that, his drive to be an MC was just beginning.
